We have just recieved a press release from IMG Sports Media naming Charleston, West Virginia as the host city for the 31st ‘MET-Rx World’s Strongest Man.’ Filming begins on Saturday, September 6th in and around the city, with a worldwide broadcast scheduled for December.
Barry Frank, Executive Vice President, Media Sports Programming at IMG said,
“IMG is thrilled that Charleston will host the 2008 ‘MET-Rx World's Strongest Man.’ We couldn't have asked for better partners than Mayor Danny Jones and Governor Joe Manchin, who have shown tremendous support and enthusiasm for the program. In a few weeks, the people of Charleston will see an unbelievable group of strength athletes from around the world for what will be our biggest competition yet.”
In 2007, Poland's Mariusz Pudzianowski joined Icelandic legends, Jon Pall Sigmarsson and Magnus Ver Magnusson, as the only four-time champions in history. Pudzianowski will defend his title in Charleston as he attempts to become the sport's greatest champion. 2006 World’s Strongest Man champion Phil Pfister will also be competing in his hometown, Charleston.
